This is the story of Gülümser, a cat saved from the streets of Istanbul. This is also a story about the power of love, and the fact that cats are incredibly strong creatures. May this story make us remember that it is almost never too late for them, and we should never deprive them of our kindness.

She was a kitten born in the streets of Istanbul, and heavily injured by stray dogs.
The extent of the damage was incredible. She had lost one ear, and some parts of her face.
She cried in pain near the garbage dump for days, but nobody heard her.
People passed by her, maybe disgusted by the way she looked, and thought that it was already too late for her.
…until a little girl saw her and decided to take her home.
This little girl’s parents were as kindhearted as her; they undertook the poor kitten’s treatment.
Following several operations, she finally started to recover her health.
Nowadays, being the best friend of the little girl who gave her a new life,
she finally deserves her name Gülümser, which means “the one who smiles” in Turkish.
